1 Week Away: Thoughts and Tips about going away to College

1 Week Away: Thoughts and Tips about going away to College

Hello interwebs! Today I am going to be continuing with my little series about heading off to college. Since I am leaving in about a week, I thought I would make a post updating you on my thoughts and feelings as I get so close to my final days at home.

Like I’ve said from the beginning, college has always been somewhat of an anxiety inducing topic. As an only child who’s never been away from home for long, this is an entirely new experience. However, as I get closer to actually leaving, there is this odd sense of calm. I think it has to do with how insanely prepared I am and my level of anxiety induced OCD. I’ve gotten all of my stuff, I am almost already packed, bought all of my school supplies and not to mention I’m going to the school of my dreams. ( it’s also a nice bonus that I got a super sweet room and an awesome roommate). With the calm and the happiness also comes with an overwhelming sense of melancholy. I am also leaving my family, my hometown, my best friend and my boyfriend as I leave off toward the unknown.

Leaving also feels like some wonderful, great adventure. I’m leaving to become more of my own person and experience people and things that will ultimately impact my life greater than anything in High School. It will make me a stronger person and hopefully, more self-assured. I think college is the ultimate time to figure out who you are and what you believe in. You aren’t surrounded by parental pressures to be one way or the other, which allows you to really delve into who you are on a very intimate level. You also have your future to dream about. What makes you happy? What could you see yourself working on/for, for quite some time? All of these things, with some good introspection and hard work, will come to you eventually.

This is also the time in which we can learn to be individual adults. The first thing I would like to mention is that you really need to take care of yourself. I know you will hear something similar from your parents, but it is important to take care of your health and well-being; both mental and physical. Mental health is really important to your overall health and happiness and like I’ve said a thousand times before, if you need help please do not feel ashamed to get it. You also have to take care of your physical health as well. Staying up all night on Redbull and Doritos won’t help your skin or your brain ( among many other things). This also doesn’t mean starving yourself because you don’t want to gain the freshman 15. Everything of course in moderation and with some light exercise you should be totally happy and healthy.

That leads me to my last point if you aren’t happy, leave. No one wants you to be unhappy and if a college or room mate or whatever is making you unhappy, miserable or depressed; maybe it just isn’t for you. I also want to stress that this is OKAY. Going to a 4 year, big wig, university isn’t for everyone. Of course, I am a large advocate of higher education but if a big private university isn’t for you there are many other options available.

Overall, I am excited for what’s to come and I wish everyone great sucess in college!

Love and hugs,

Lia

Bullet Journaling: My first time and first impressions

Bullet Journaling: My first time and first impressions

Hello interwebs! Today I will be talking about my new introduction into bullet journaling and my first impressions of this widely popular way of planning. Now I’ve only been doing this for a few weeks now, so I’m going to do an updated impressions post as I continue to use this method.

For those of you that don’t know, bullet journaling is a type of planning in which you use a notebook with an index and page numbers in order to make a planner that is specifically catered to your style and needs. Usually, a bullet journal consists of a mix of planning and serious topics as well as journaling type pages. There is a whole website made by the creator of the Bullet Journal and I suggest taking a look at that website if you are seriously interested.

For me personally, I wanted to have a system where I could easily plan all of my school events but not have to keep spending money on stickers in order to make spreads look visually appealing. I also wanted something in which I could track more personal things and keep a look at my own mental health as the months go by. I was drawn to the bullet journal because of its customizability. Fully endless layouts and possibilities to fit my needs and wants, which is pretty darn cool.

That brings us to my bullet journal. While up in Seattle, I stopped at my favorite stationery store Kinokuya and got all of the needed supplies. I decided on a bright blue Leuchtturm 1917, with dotted paper, a Pilot Opt. 0.5 pencil, and some of the Mildliner highlighters ( which seemed like a must according to the bullet journal community). I first started in it at the airport on the way home and I’ve kept up with it since.

As for my first impressions, I am really loving it. It allows me to be really creative with spreads and have everything that I need there and accounted for. Now that I have my spread almost down pat It’s been really fun to sit down there and think of themes and what not to put in there. As for the notebook itself, I love the dotted paper and the notebook is so cute I can’t help but love to write in it. I would also totally recommend the Mildliners because they totally help add color to spreads without seeping through the paper.

Well, that just about does it. Please let me know if you want to see pictures of my spreads and if you want to see more things about bullet journaling in the future.

Happy spring everyone!

Lia

Chivalry is dead: An online roleplay storyline

Chivalry is dead: An online roleplay storyline

Hello interwebs! It’s your friendly neighborhood redhead here and today I will be sharing with you the storyline for my upcoming RP series “Chivalry is dead”. As of right now this is a small private thing between my boyfriend and I but we will be adding our friends in at a certain part of the story ( which will make a ton more sense after reading this). Happy reading!

Chivalry is Dead

Two people, renegades of their own planet, find themselves stranded on a strange and unfamiliar world. They stumble upon a ruined castle, abandoned long ago after falling in a war. While this castle was unfamiliar to them, they made it their new home.

Their home planet, Nebula VI, was ravaged by a nuclear war over a decade ago, but still remained in a post-apocalyptic state. Millions of people died in the war, and more continue to die from lingering radiation. After the war, the local government, otherwise known as the Republic, attempted to reform the country. Because of the war, many criminal and organizations such as the Mafia came out of hiding and started to fight against the government, wanting to take over the country.

The epicenter of the battle between the Republic and the insurgents, Capital City SR2, bathed in chaos. In recent events, the Republic began to regain control of the Capital and sent hundreds of various criminals into a large, reconstructed jail. Not long after this mass roundup, a nuclear bomb detonated a few miles away, completely destroying the jail. Anyone who saw the explosion in the distance knew that it brought certain doom with it. A prison break was stirred, and over ¾ of the prisoners escaped. Among these was a young female assassin named Jade Rogers. Jade located an operational escape pod and killed her fellow inmates who had commandeered it. Unknown to her, she had a stowaway on her vessel: a warrior long forgotten, named Raiko Gryffin. Only after Jade managed to escape the nuclear explosion did Jade become aware of his presence. With a certain degree of difficulty, he convinced her not to kill him, but the escape pod was damaged by the blast. So wherever they were going, they were going there together.

Just outside of the Nebula Prime system, their little escape pod started bearing down on another planet. Its sensors, old and damaged as they were, could not sense this planet. The pod was sucked in by the planet’s gravity. Thanks to their lack of control over the craft, Jade and Raiko braced for impact as the pod crashed into the side of a hill.

The castle they fashioned into a home was not without a history of its own. It was once ruled by A tyrannical king. King Jacob was a notorious king, taking in all of the worst people, banding them together to build his army. This king of thieves sent his subjects; namely assassins, rogues, dark wizards and witches, and evil knights; out to plunder the surrounding villages in search of treasure. After twenty years of torment, those villages decided to fight back. Against the king, they ultimately prevailed. He and all of his army and subjects burned at the stake.

Many legends surfaced after this that the castle was a nexus for dark energy. These legends also stated: should a descendant of Jacob be put into the same situation as he, the remains of the castle would appear to them, allowing them to live in safety. Once the descendant discovered their true power, the planet would become visible to the rest of space, allowing his heir to spread Jacob’s terror and death across the galaxy.

I hope this gives some of you writing your own storylines some ideas. Please read my post on storylines to see the steps I took on making this. Also, I will be posting more on this series as it progresses so follow me in order to stay updated.

Stay Classy,

Lia

Character Creation: The difficulties of creating playable characters

Character Creation: The difficulties of creating playable characters

Hello interwebs! It’s your neighborhood redhead here and today I will be talking about character creation.

If you’ve been a reader of mine for some time now, you may remember a post I did talking about online roleplay and my personal experience with it. Although my experience has been limited regarding the whole roleplay/LARP community I’ve been creating characters for years. I’ve always been interested in writing and when I was younger I would sit and write characters as a means to pass time etc. and I often “lived” in those stories and characters a majority of the time; so when I transitioned into roleplay and LARP it wasn’t something that was out of the ordinary as I have been “playing” other people in my head since I was a kid.

Now on to character creation. Character creation can be really difficult. When first starting out creating a character it is usually best to become an amplified version of yourself. This makes making decisions and straight out acting a whole lot easier. For Lizabeth, I decided to make her the person that I had always wanted to be. She’s confident, witty, strong, a little bit quirky, etc. I’ve also had Lizabeth as a character since I was very young so adapting her to the Etrian story we created wasn’t hard. Similar to this route, you can choose to make a character that is opposite of yourself. If you’re naturally good, make a character who’s a thief, or a bloodthirsty assassin.

For Example, my boyfriend is someone who wants to protect his loved ones and the ideals he holds close. His character, the assassin, takes special effort to make sure those goals are met by whatever means. I think picking something like this to make your character off of is also a good idea because you know what to base a majority of your decisions on. It can be really hard to come up with a character that you can wholly stick to, and I think that it really can make or break your overall gameplay.

That’s all I got on character creation. Let me know if you want a specific tutorial on how I made our characters or other posts like this on writing characters ( like how to write a backstory etc)

Stay classy.
